The community preschool teachers in Managua expressed an interest to Casa in learning more about the environment and learning how they could change habits in their preschool to protect the environment.

Casa financed this project through the Casa Project Fund as an extention of our general professional development activities.

A local NGO with the required expertise - Los Jovenes Ambientalistas (Environmentalist Youth) - was brought in to lead workshops with the teachers who then worked together to implement strategies for their classrooms.

Over the course of 18 months, the teachers organized community clean-ups and tree planting in their communities and implemented such things as the separation of garbage in their classrooms.
