Region: In late January 2008, students and teachers from Robert F Hall Catholic Secondary School spent 10 days in the village of Santa Julia, not far from El Crucero, high in the hills above the capital city of Managua. With the groups financial donation, the community was able to construct a new school on land recently acquired in the name of the community. This school now replaces the run-down building the community was using that did not actually belong to them or to the Ministry of Education and to which access was soon going to be denied. Construction of the school began in mid-January and it went up in record time, opening in time for the first week of the new school year (early February). |
