A delegation of students and teachers from St Joseph Secondary School (Mississauga ON) will be visiting Casa from June 14 - June 24, 2008. They will spend most of their time with the "Guardianes del Bosque" ("Keepers of the forest") Cooperative in the rural community of Penas Blancas, located in the department of Jinotega, at the southern edge of the Bosawas Biosphere Reserve. The delegation has made a $5,000 donation towards improving the eco-lodge run by the Cooperative. Their donation will go towards a second story, improved sanitation facilities and stone walkways between the buildings.
